# What are data sources?

Understand connected platforms in Oviond.

A data source is a marketing platform account connected to a client in Oviond. Examples include ad platforms, analytics tools, social platforms, and other marketing data providers.

Most connections use a secure authorization flow. Oviond requests read access so it can pull reporting data into widgets.

A connected account must be linked to the correct client before it can be used in that client’s reports.
