Connecting a new integration can often be stressful. How do you know if your account is set up correctly when you're working with so many different platforms? Sometimes something as simple as a permission level can prevent you from connecting that integration to Oviond. In this article we will be helping you understand how to get started with Google Sheets on Oviond.

Connecting Google Sheets To Oviond

To connect your Google Sheets account on to Oviond, all you will need is your Google email address and your password that is associated with the spreadsheet you want bring into Oviond

  1. Select the Google Sheets integration
  2. Authenticate the integration using your Gmail logins
  3. Select the account you want to work with

NOTE: There will only be a default account listed as there is only one account that will ever be connected to that one email address.

Configuring your Google Sheet to pull data to Oviond

Oviond will pull data from a Google Sheet according to columns. The first row of every column will be the metric you can select on Oviond.

If you are looking to pull data for clicks and impressions over time, you will need three columns. The first row of each column will read DATE, CLICK, IMPRESSION.

With our Google Sheets integration, what you see is what you get. So there is no specific way to format the date. You can either type the date or days out, or you can pull the data by numbers.

Creating a Google Sheets widget on Oviond

When you create a widget for Google Sheets on Oviond, it will first ask you to select the spreadsheet that you want to pull data from. You can search the spreadsheet by name or scroll down the pop up menu.

Once you have selected the spreadsheet the next step is to select the sheet you want to pull data from. Once again, you can either scroll down the pop up menu or search by name.

The last selection is to select your metrics. Once again, the metrics will be listed according to what is on the first row of your columns. If you would like to pull a trend over time, make sure to select the metric DATE first.

Once you have selected all the metrics you would like to report on, you can choose your chart type and create your widget!

Google Sheets and our date range

Please note that Google Sheets works independently of the date range. You will not be able to filter the data through the global date range. If it has been included in the sheet, it will be included in your graphs and tables.

However, if you would like to include more data in your columns and would like that number to reflect on Oviond, you can use the refresh icon to refresh the data that is getting pulled through from your reports or dashboards.

If you would like to add an entire new column of data onto your Oviond charts and tables, you would need to edit the widget to specify the new set of data you would like to pull through. Learn more about editing widgets.
